Description: The Department of Education is currently considering its capacity to increase the number of engagement programs for Aboriginal Female students in Years 7 to 12 in Western Australia.

Participation in targeted engagement programs can empower Aboriginal female students to take part in academic life through appropriate mentoring, pastoral support and sports programs.  Several current programs seek to support Aboriginal students’ engagement in education and their transitions through school and into further study/work.  These programs have predominately focused on Aboriginal males rather than females, often with a strong focus on sport.

The Department of Education has engaged PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) to consult with stakeholders in metropolitan and regional locations to inform the development of the service model, community outcomes, service level outcomes, service requirements and key performance indicators for an Aboriginal Girls Engagement Program.

The Department of Education and PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) invites interested stakeholders to participate in an open workshop to support the program co-design approach.
